Wolverhampton Wheelchair Service
The Wolverhampton Wheelchair Service provides the assessment for, and provision of a range of non-powered and powered wheelchairs. The provision can also include special seating, cushioning and other accessories where necessary.
In addition to this core service there is also a free of charge delivery, collection and repair service.
How to access this service
Initial referral into the service is via a GP or hospital doctor. Once registered with the service, clients are free to self refer should they need to do so.
Referral criteria / process
Clients must be registered with a Wolverhampton City PCT GP and have a permanent condition which requires them to have a wheelchair as an aid to mobility.
More specific criteria apply to the different ranges of equipment available (e.g. powered chairs) and form the basis of individual assessments.
Locations where the service is provided
The service is provided at the Maltings Mobility Centre (address below), day centres and schools in Wolverhampton, and also at the client’s home etc.

When is the service available?
The service is available Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 4.30pm and Friday 8.30am to 4pm.
Out of Hours / Emergency Procedures
An emergency out of hours services can be accessed via the service’s ‘approved repairers’ who are J R Wooddisse based in Dale St, Bilston. They can be contacted on 01902 494336. This emergency service is available until 11pm, seven days a week.
