HealthTec is a resource centre that is designed to link into the national school curriculum for health and social care.

The new learning facility, which opened its doors in November 2007, is only the second of its kind in the country.

HealthTec gives 14-19 year-olds access to ‘real life’ scenarios aimed to make them more aware of health and social issues such as obesity, teenage pregnancy, food hygiene, smoking and drugs that could affect both themselves and their family members. The centre also aims to encourage students to explore the wide variety of employment opportunities in the NHS, and, as a skills and learning base it will equip young people with national curriculum and diploma courses leading to the academic and professional qualifications they will need.

The centre has been planned and developed by a unique partnership between Wolverhampton City Primary Care Trust, NHS West Midlands - the strategic health authority, the Local Authority’s 14-19 team, the Education Business Partnership, Skills for Health and local employers, schools and colleges.
