Foot Health Service (Podiatry)
The Foot Health Service is a NHS service for those who have an identified medical or podiatric need.
It includes the management of long term chronic disorders, minor surgery and providing orthoses to alleviate foot or lower limb problems.
How to access the service
Access to the service can be made directly; an application for assessment must be completed and sent to Foot Health Services. Application forms are available from most GP premises and Health Centres.
Details of the referral criteria / process
Once the application form has been received, an appointment for assessment will be sent out to the patient.
At the assessment, a treatment plan and how to self-care will be discussed. Further appointments with Foot Health may be necessary, or the patient may be discharged with safe self-care – this will be discussed at the assessment.
Locations where the service is provided
Not all clinics offer the full range of services.
Unless a specialist service is required, treatment will be at a clinic near the patient’s home.
