Children’s Physiotherapy

The children’s community physiotherapy service is available to all children and young people aged 0-16 years old, or up to the age of 19 years if they are in full time education at school or college. Depending on individual circumstances, those patients aged 16-19 years old, who have left school at 16 will usually be transferred to adult services. The service is for patients with developmental delay, neurological, or neuromuscular conditions, which affect their physical development, or who have other long term conditions such as children’s arthritis
The aim of the physiotherapist is to help the child/young person reach their full potential by providing physical intervention, special equipment, advice and support.
The physiotherapists work in close partnership with the child, their family and other professionals.
