Be specific but not exclusive. The less you enter in the search box, the more pages will match. For example if you searched for a single letter, then that letter will exist in many words and those words on many pages. So you need to enter enough text to reasonably exclude the majority of pages. However, the more text you provide, the fewer matches will result, potentially excluding relevent information. It might take practice to get the balance right.

Avoid plurals. Search for 'policy' instead of 'policies'

If your search doesn't return any results then try chopping the endings off words. Searching for 'responsib' will return results containing 'responsibility', 'responsible', 'responsibilities'.
