Smoking and Mental Health

The Wolverhampton Stop Smoking Service provides numerous ways for people with mental health issues to access the Stop Smoking Support programme.

There are mental health workers who are also trained as Stop Smoking advisors within various locations in Wolverhampton.

Inpatients at Penn Hospital can be referred to the service during their stay.
If a patient wishes to stop smoking they will need to advise their nurse who will either complete a form or contact the Stop Smoking service on their behalf. A specialist Stop Smoking advisor will arrange a mutual appointment with the patient.
Alternatively the patient can telephone the service directly on 0800 073 42 42 and make an appointment.

Corner House is the main resource centre which offers various activities for people experiencing mental health issues and learning difficulties.  Corner House works closely with the Wolverhampton Stop Smoking service to offer the Stop Smoking programme together with support during the quit attempt.  One-to-one support is provided  to anyone that is referred to Corner House.
Corner House also work with some colleges to provide educational programmes and with other health professionals to offer alternative therapies such as Indian head massage.

Please note that access to Corner House is via a GP referral only.
