Healthy City Award

A new award has been launched in 2008 to reward those who promote healthier lifestyles.

The aims of the award are to:
Raise the profile of healthy living across the City
Create an environment in which it is easier to make healthy choices
Create local champions for healthy living

The award will initially be piloted within the New Deal area and rolled out across the City during 2008.

Any organisation can apply that has food available on the premises, including schools, religious meeting places, food retailers, businesses and residential homes.

There are 4 categories – Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum

Criteria have to be met, which accrue points, covering food hygiene standards, healthy food and drink options, encouraging physical activity and green issues such as recycling.
