Healthy City Award
A new award has been launched in 2008 to reward those who promote healthier lifestyles.
The aims of the award are to:
Raise the profile of healthy living across the City
Create an environment in which it is easier to make healthy choices
Create local champions for healthy living
The award will initially be piloted within the New Deal area and rolled out across the City during 2008.
Any organisation can apply that has food available on the premises, including schools, religious meeting places, food retailers, businesses and residential homes.
There are 4 categories – Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum
Criteria have to be met, which accrue points, covering food hygiene standards, healthy food and drink options, encouraging physical activity and green issues such as recycling.
Benefits to the organisation include:
- A presentation event for award winners
- Publicity for showing commitment to customers
- Positive links with the community
- A window sticker
- Incentives for leisure opportunities
- Financial awards beyond bronze level

The winners so far
The following organisations were awarded the Healthy City Award at the One City Show (12-13 July), West Park, Wolverhampton:
- Eastfield Primary School - Platinum Award
- St. Matthew's Place (sheltered residential home) West Park Rehabilitation Hospital Penn Hospital - Platinum Award
- Aldersley Leisure Village - Gold Award
The Healthy City Award was launched on 5 February 2008, and the following winning organisations were presented with their awards 
- Sandwich (takeaway based in Wolverhampton) – Silver Award
- Waitrose Wolverhampton – Platinum Award
- Grove Primary School – Platinum Award
- St. Teresa’s Catholic Primary School – Platinum Award
