Quality and Safety Committee
This is a new committee combining some of the functions and membership of the former Clinical Quality Assurance Committee and Risk Management Committee. It has been established in order to maintain a grip on quality and safety and to ensure that the CCGs (Clinical Commissioning Groups) are equipped to ensure the continuity of the focus on quality and safety after April 2013. The Committee is accountable to the Clinical Executive of the Black Country Cluster Board.
The Committee has the following key responsibilities:
- To identify risks and mitigating actions in respect of clinical risks, workforce risks and reputational risks.
- To raise concerns with the Clinical Executive and the CCG.
- To receive direction from the Clinical Executive in the execution of the Cluster Quality Strategy.
- To support the Clinical Executive in the maintenance of quality of services in the Black Country through the transition period.
- To develop the local capacity in CCGs.
- To equip CCGs to ensure that they are able to ensure high quality locally commissioned services.
- To refer serious concerns to the Primary Care Committee for primary care contractor issues.
