Local Clinical Cabinet/Professional Executive Committee (PEC)
Until January 2012, the PCT had a Professional Executive Committee (PEC) made up of GPs, nurses and representatives of Wolverhampton City Council, the Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust, the Black Country Partnership Mental Health FT, LINk, and Staff Side.
The role of the PEC was to lead the PCT through detailed thinking on priorities, service policies and investment plans and to bring about clinical change and health improvement and ensure health services in Wolverhampton develop and respond to patients’ needs. That role has now passed to the Clinical Executive, which includes Doctors from all four of the Black Country PCTs (Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton). Dr Helen Hibbs represents Wolverhampton at these meetings, which are held monthly. The Clinical Executive reports to the Black Country Cluster Board.
Locally, there remains a discussion forum for local Doctors and other health professionals and interested parties to consider clinical commissioning issues relevant to local citizens. This is the Clinical Cabinet, which meets monthly and includes the following former members of the Professional Executive Committee, as well as representatives of the Clinical Commissioning Group for the City.
