Declarations of Interest

When formally appointed, all Board Members, officers and employees of the PCT are required to undertake, to uphold, and abide by, the Code of Conduct introduced by the Committee for Standards in Public Life (the Nolan Committee), two of whose principles are selflessness and integrity.

Among other things, PCT Board Members and employees are expected to ensure that the interest of the public remains paramount at all times, and to be impartial and honest in the conduct of their official business.

PCT Board Members must declare any interests that are relevant and material to their Board, and these are recorded in a Register, which is available to the public (in the document linked below), and at Board meetings.

Similarly, when a PCT officer or employee finds that he/she has a direct or indirect financial interest in any contract into which the PCT has entered into, or proposes to enter into, he/she must declare that interest.

Interests declared by employees are also kept in a register and, in line with good practice, this too is now available for public inspection (linked below).

Further details of the requirement to declare interests can be found in Section 7 of the Trust's Standing Orders.
